OVER THE PAST two weeks, gossips and rumors erupted over Janno Gibbs’ decision to depart from GMA after his stay for nearly three decades from That’s Entertainment (1986) to Sunday All Stars (2015).
According to Philippine Entertainment Portal, Gibbs confirmed the rumor just days after his release of the album, Novela, under GMA Records. Last April 19 marked his final appearance on Sunday All Stars for the 45-year-old “King of Soul”.
Ogie Alcasid, Janno’s long-time best friend, was happy to see him to be part of TV5. According to Ogie, he will collaborate with him on the new program, No Harm, No Foul, a mix of game, musical and variety show.
However, according to an entertainment news item on Aksyon last week, the duo will collaborate as hosts on the new Sunday afternoon variety show entitled “Happy Trak (Truck) ng Bayan.”
Ogie Alcasid and Janno Gibbs became best friends on the tube in 1997 on GMA on the Sunday afternoon musical variety show “S.O.P.” Party Pilipinas and Sunday All Stars then succeeded the 13-year-old show until 2013 when Ogie left as a fully-fledged Kapatid. Janno admitted last year that he suffered from depression, like what Hollywood comedian Robin Williams did before his suicide.
So far, no premiere dates of either of the two new shows were announced, as of press time, but the materialization of such shows on the Reliance Network will be put to a question for critics out there.
